2000 Marymoor Men's Slowpitch Softball League Rules
- USSSA umpires will be used. USSSA rules will prevail unless stated below.
- All at-bats will be a 4-ball/3-strike count. One courtesy foul ball will
be allowed after having two strikes. If two foul balls are hit after two
strikes, the batter is out.
- No metal cleats are allowed.
- A player must be at least 18 years of age and may appear on only one
Redmond Parks and Recreation Department Men's Slowpitch League Roster. All
players must sign the Official Team Roster or Add/Delete form. Additions
must be filed 24 hours prior to the next league game. Players who
participate in a game without appearing on these forms will be considered
ineligible. Teams will forfeit any games in which an ineligible player
participates. Additions/deletions may be made until June 1st.
- Teams must have a minimum of 8 players to start and finish a game. If a
team begins with less than 10 players, they may add the 9th (or 9th and
10th) player at any time to the bottom of the batting order.
- Teams may bat their roster as long as they bat the same number throughout
the game. Teams may add players to the bottom of the batting order until the
lead-off hitter bats a second time. If a player is hurt and no substitutes
are available, that player may be dropped from the batting order with no
penalty. Every player dropped thereafter will be an out in the batting
order.
- Any of the starting players may be withdrawn and re-entered once, provided
players occupy the same batting positions whenever in the lineup. If a team
is batting more than 10 players, defensive substitutions (with players in
the batting order who were not playing defense) may be made with no re-entry
restrictions. Courtesy runners will be allowed with the consent of the
opposing coach.
- The home team is responsible for designating a person to keep the official
book and for providing the umpire with a new game ball at the start of each
game. First initial and last name for all players must be entered in the
scorebook. Visiting team shall provide a good back-up ball.
- Games are scheduled 1 hour and 15 minutes apart. No new inning after 1
hour and 10 minutes from the actual starting time of the game.
- There is a 10 minute grace period for 6:00 p.m. games only! Teams not
ready to play by 6:10 p.m. will forfeit the first game of their double
header. The second game of the doubleheader will be forfeited 30 minutes
after the first game was scheduled to start (does not apply to cross-over
doubleheaders).
- The game is over if a team is ahead by 10 or more runs at the end of five
innings (4½ innings if the home team is ahead.
- The winning teams is responsible for calling in scores to the Redmond
Recreation office at (425)556-2308. Scores not received within 24 hours of
completion of the game(s) will result in losses for both teams.
- Protests must be submitted in writing to the League Director by 5:00 p.m.
the following business day and accompanied by a $25 check made payable to
City of Redmond. The $25 will be refunded if the protest is upheld. A
protest cannot be made against judgment-type situations.
- NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON PARK PROPERTY!
- Physical or verbal abuse of umpires will not be tolerated. Physical abuse
will be cause for expulsion from the league. Ejection from the game will
result in the player being ineligible to participate in his team's next
game. Physical abuse will result in the offending player/coach being
suspended from the league pending a hearing. There will be no exceptions.
- Daily rainout information will be available after 3:30 p.m. at (206)
296-4172.
- Incomplete games of less than five innings will be rescheduled and must
start from scratch. Complete games of five innings or more which end in a
tie will not be rescheduled.
- Managers/coaches are responsible for going over the league rules with team
members so they are aware of them. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse.
Please take a copy of these league rules with you to all league games!
- Home Run Rule: This rule applies only to games played on fenced fields
(#6, 7 and 8). A progressive rule will be used. This means that once teams
reach their limit of home runs (NOT home run hitters), no team may be more
than one home run ahead of the other team. A dead-ball out will be the
penalty for any untouched over-the-fence home run that puts a team 2 home
runs ahead of their opponent. Division 1: 2 home runs then progressive;
Divisions 2, 3 & 4: 1 home run then progressive.
