Men's Softball Information

  1. During Spring League play, we expect to have two men's teams geared to different levels of ability.

Men's Teams:  League play in the Kirkland Parks and Recrestion League in Kirkland. Most games will be at Crestwoods Park, across the street and west of Kirkland Jr. High.  (Two divisions, teams selected by ability to play in appropriate division for team's overall ability.)

  2. The coaches will attempt to structure the teams so that each will be balanced and the players will be satisfied with the level of competition.  Our goal is to objectively choose the teams in descending order of talent/ability.  All positions on every team are considered "open".  Players will be placed on the highest caliber team for which they qualify, unless they notify the coaches otherwise.  You are also expected to play on the team that you have been assigned.
  3. Pre-season practices are important.  It not only helps get your body prepared for another softball season and gives you a chance to play with your potential teammates, but it shows your commitment level as well.  If we do not see you at practices, we will have to assume that you do not wish to play.  If you are a new player, it is even more important that you attend as many practices as possible as this will be the sole basis for your team placement.
  4. These are "slow pitch" leagues (10 players defensively, no stealing, no leadoffs until after the ball is hit, no bunting, etc.).  In addition, during league play, the batting order may consist of an additional five players.
  5. Each team will carry at least 12 or 13 active players, and some substitutes (inactive) players on the roster.  This way all active (paying) players will be assured of full participation.  Inactive players are those who aren't expected to commit themselves to playing regularly, but can fill in on occasion when a team is short.
  6. Cost: Our teams are currently self-supporting.  All players will be asked to pay their share of the costs incurred by the team during the softball season.  League fees are around $70-$80 per player.  Check with year-specific pages for exact amount.
  7. Players must be at least 18 years old when their league play begins.
  8. Players are expected to make games unless they notify their coach.  Printed schedules will be provided.  They will also be published on our website.
  9. This is an outreach ministry of Westminster Chapel.  Anyone who wants to play can play.
  10. Our teams represent Jesus Christ and Westminster Chapel.  We expect there to be no smoking, profanity, or alcoholic beverages at the games.  In addition, our attitudes toward the umpires should be exemplary -- even under adverse circumstances.
  11. The goal is to play aggressively and to try to win every game, but let's remember that winning and losing is not a life-or-death situation.
