Spring 2005

Men's Softball Players,

It seems hard to believe but it's that time of year again!  Time to break out the old glove, cinch up the strings, dab a few spots of oil into it and get ready for another season of softball.  (Of course, if you are like most of us, you have been on a rigorous off-season weight-lifting and conditioning program and don't need to get anything ready, right?)

For advertising, look for announcements in the Growing Together in the weeks to come.  Also, we may have a few Sundays where there will be a softball information table set up in the church foyer.   But as you know, some of the best ways to bring new people into the program is through you!  If we have a table set up, I encourage you to stop by one of the tables (and bring a friend!).

As we look forward to the upcoming season, I want to remind you that our team rosters don't necessarily carry over from one year to the next  There are always some guys who don't return or some movement between the two teams.  Spring is where we find out what we have, what holes we need to fill, and what new players have interest.  Based on tryouts at spring training, we figure out the best way to determine the rosters for the teams.  So if you intend to play, we need you out at the practices.

In the men's program, Westminster will plan on organizing two men's teams again this year.  If the number of men wishing to play exceeds the limits of what we can realistically carry for two teams, there may be some who won't make a team.  That is why your attendance at practices is so important.  That may be the sole basis for the coaches decisions on selecting their respective team rosters.

We hope the off-season was good to you and we look forward to seeing you on the field!
